the novel is rich in poetry, symbolism and metaphor. it does not fit easily into a definite pattern, being neither a novel of "manners" in the tradition of austen, or a straightforward gothic romance in the style of mrs radcliffe. what charlotte bronte did was to create a work which cleverly blends elements of the two styles, and which remains uniquely independent of them at the same time, since it addresses issues which were at the time rather controversial.

the novel is written in the first person, and thus magnifies the central character - the reader enters the world of jane eyre and is transported through her experiences at first hand. this at once makes the work subjective, especially since we know that charlottes brontes own life and experiences were so closely interwoven with the heroine's. as well as this we learn only at the end of the novel that the events are being related to us ten years after the reconciliation with rochester - thus the narrative is retrospective (looking back). cb is clever in blending the narrative so that at times jane seems to be speaking as an adult with adult hindsight , while at others she she is "in the middle" of them, as a child or young woman. the indecision which is a central issue in the book, is heightened by this device. we never know, as readers, whether to be entirely trustful of janes actions and thoughts, because we are never sure wheher she is speaking impulsively or maturely.

this intensifies the readers dilemma as to what is "right" and "wrong" in the dramatic relationships which are part of je's life. can we believe what the heroine says, or is she deceiving herself? the novel is primarily a love story and a "romance" where wishes come true but only after trials and suffering. the supernatural has its place, as do dreams, portents and prophesies. the heroine begins poor and lonely and ends up rich and loved; the orphan finds a good family to replace the wicked one; all the basic ingredients of classic romantic fairytale are present.

the romantic element is present in two forms in jane eyre; the "family" aspect is dealt with in the gateshead, lowood and moor house episodes, which involve the exchanging of the wicked reed family for the benevolent rivers one; and the love romance is dealt with in the thornfield and ferndean episodes. both aspects are, of course linked and interwoven throughout the novel.

today, the teacher showed us a movie, the name is lei feng, the movie mainly tells the story of lei feng doing good deeds and serving the people. what impressed me most was uncle lei feng's kind-hearted, economical and helpful qualities.

what touched me the most in the movie was when lei feng was young and when lei feng died. when he was young, all his relatives were lost, but he was strong and said, "china is my home and everyone is my family." in the end uncle lei feng sacrificed his precious life to save others.

although uncle leifeng died, but his spirit will never die, live in our hearts forever!

" thirteen clocks " by james thurber." thirteen clocks " is the short book, at first glance, you may not feel anything extraordinary, but at the end of the story, you will be deeply attracted by the characters in the book, especially the mysterious ancient brooks.i don't know what thurber did, but they really true to life likene.we will for many different reasons like many different kinds of books, but few have a book, like " thirteen clocks " as intoxicated.it is not a fable, fairy tales and poems, and more like a combination of the three.it is vivid and humorous, full of philosophy, poetic.it is the one and only, make people happy.

i have read a book the other day called the monkey’s paw which is written by w.w.jacobs.the story began on a cold and dark night.old mr white got a magic monkey paw from his friend morris.morris who told him that the monkey paw could give three wishes to three people, but it couldn’t bring them happiness.however, old mr white still used the paw to make wishes without listening to morris’s discourage.finally, he got thirty thousand pounds but his son died.at the end of the story, mrs white almost became crazy.the whole family fell into sadness and fear.

this story is gripping and also a little scary.it is tragic and sobering.the plot is both unexpected and reasonable.although old mr white’s friend had warned him,but he didn’t listen.at last it became a tragedy.what caused all this?it’s obvious that the mr white’s greed. he wanted to get the money with no pay,but that is impossible in this world.i’m afraid he’ll live out the rest of his life in regret. the three men who used the monkey’s paw all paid an irreparable price for their greed.

this short novel tells us a lesson that we can’t daydream.waiting for money and success comes with no pay is stupid and not realistic.we should work and study harder.chase the treasure on your own without regret or sadness.

didn't see the animation for a time, the only reason is that there is no better animation masterpiece can appeal to me, but this "despicable me" look tonight let me not stop laughing, i haven't felt it, seems to be the film, the film of that original moved been thinking over, replaced, although still have deep feelings of the movie, but has become less pure, or should i say is too pure.

despicable me "in the first half of the imagination really let me be startled at various all sorts of strange things, the invention of pyramid as well as the moon, stealing ideas and so on, but it does not keep this advantage, at the back we can obviously feel it in imagination too, repeated design makes the second half, monotonous.

but it is stubbornly find narrative logic in general make trouble out of nothing rigorous from cartoon, so "despicable me" still can not stop me every 3 minutes in the heart for this movie exclamation "too cool".

for the film, but also for their development in the future hope, hope they later animation can do better, to create their own piece of heaven.
