在《钢铁是怎样炼成的》中，主人公保尔坚定地执行着党“为了解放全人类而奋斗”的业。不曾在路上停止一步，从一名普通工人子弟蜕变为一名无产阶级战士，这是对自身试炼的成功。

世间后退那么百年来，炮火纷飞的二战战场，人们因不同的信仰拿起了枪炮，一方坚信的信念为另一方否定，为了自身所处庞大集体的利益，每个人都负起了“国家利益”的业。不想负担而一昧逃芒的人，高尔基在《鹰之歌》中用鹰之口这么对他们说：“我懂得什么是幸福！……我也英勇地战斗过！我也看见过天空！你绝不会那么近地看到过天空！唉，你这可怜虫！”而那条象征着无业者的蛇只会说：“飞也好，爬也好，结果还不是一样，大家都要埋入黄土，都要化为灰尘。”这帮可怜可悲之人，碌碌无为，简直是集体的毒瘤，是窃取他人劳动成果的小偷！此为“业”的重要性。下段我们回到“敬业”上来。

我们已知每个人都应该有正业，那如何做好“业”呢？答案当然是“敬”。要对这份“业”怀有敬重之心。凡是做一件事情，必将全部身心投入，就像朱熹所说：“主一无不适便是敬。”

在20世纪60年代，时任兰考县县委书记的焦裕禄就是敬业的典范，他全身心地投入改善兰考人民生活的“业”中，身先士卒的治理“三害”。他亲自调查，亲自研究，亲自劳作，始终在第一线活动。改变了兰考的贫困局面，造福了一邦人民。此时，他知道自己换上了癌症，但坚持工作到了生命的最后一刻，被誉为“党的好干部。”

再古老一点，诸葛亮也是一个敬业之人，他在刘备三顾茅庐后，担负起了兴复汉室之业。火烧新野以保全刘备；巧借东风而大败曹操；智取汉中而三足鼎立；七擒孟获而平定南夷；大败西羌而前进北伐。设置死后仍巧立木像吓退司马，设计遗托而诛杀魏延。可谓“鞠躬尽瘁，死而后已。”他坚定地执行着业，直到最后一刻。

敬业就是如上面两位一般。他们以敬业而获取成就，又以成就赢得生前身后名。此即我所讲：敬业是重要的，是责任与义务。
